I have lived in the Cape Fear Region of North Carolina all my life and in Wilmington since 1992. I love calling this wonderful place home I can't imagine bringing up my family anywhere else!
Shortly after graduating from East Carolina University I met and married my husband, Stephen. We have two sons and a beautiful daughter.
I was very blessed to be able to stay home with them when they were young. When they were in middle school and high school I finally had time to pursue a career that I have always had in the back of my mind, just waiting for the right time.
I have had a passion for real estate since Steve and I were looking for our first house many years ago, so it was an obvious decision to become a Realtor. The decision to work with Coldwell Banker Sea Coast Advantage was also an easy choice. It is very simple, Sea Coast Advantage has more agents and moves more property than any other company in the area. I have worked with Julie as a home inspector prior to my retirement for many years. I always found her to have the utmost integrity in her job and knowledge of real estate in the Wilmington Area. Her dedication to her Clients and drive to be successful are excellent qualities to have in the business. Naturally, when it became time to sell my home after retirement, I selected Julie and her colleagues at Coldwell Banker to assist in the preparation and sale of our home. She had many suggestions to aid in making our home more presentable and checked in with us prior to listing the home. When the house was up for sale, she continually checked in with us by providing Broker and Client feedback. Here marketing plan got us noticed and we had several showings. Julie was amazing helping us find our new home. We were relocating and time was of the essence. She got a feel for what we were looking for after our first afternoon together and focused on homes that fit what we were looking for the following day. I arrived in town and had to start a job the next day. I was staying in a motel as I began my employment. Once I started looking for a place to stay, real estate agents came at me like seagulls to a loaf of bread on the beach. Everyone wanted to take me for a ride on Saturday to look for my next home. I told them I just needed to get out of the motel. They wouldn't listen, Julie did. She found an affordable apartment that I could rent while I looked for my home. The apartment complex was set up to help me with the lease, so--when I found my home--I would be able to move without paying an expensive buy-out. Judy listened when others wanted to talk. She helped me with what I needed, when others had their own ideas of what they wanted to help me with.As my wife and I searched for our home, we came to appreciate Julie's ability to listen to her customer's needs, pay attention to the details, and find those that matched what we needed most. She reads the market extremely well, but, more importantly, she reads the customer well, too. We went from home to home looking at positives and negatives, and Julie was clear on those. She spotted and noted every red flag along the way. She was a good advisor and counselor to monitor our goals and keep us on track. She paid attention to the details of our wants and needs, so we didn't have to.We are now more than satisfied with the home we purchased. It was affordable for us, and it met all the criteria for our family's needs, as well as providing the most important bonuses we were looking for, given our budget.After we moved in, we had an issue with air conditioning, and were weren't getting the service from the home warranty we needed. Julie, long after the time for her services were over, helped us get through that trouble, not only with advice; rather, with immediate intervention not required from her at all. when we first used Julie Chappell to purchase our home in Leland NC I drove down from Asheville to see what she could find for us. She spent the better part of the next 17 days taking me to see about 100 homes that would be possibilities, we put in offers on two of them only to find that they had just just gone under contract literally only minutes before we put in our offer. We then found another home that we made an offer on and the seller was very interested in it and we were to get together the next day to finalize everything.. We got a call from the realtor at 9:00 the next morning telling us that the seller had had a severe heart attack the previous evening, was in very serious condition, and could not make a decision for the next 18 days. So, Julie and I start looking at other properties. We then found another home that was on the market in Brunswick Forest, and we were able to but it.To say that Julie was patient and determined would be a gross under statement. And despite the long process, she continued to both very kind and very professional. So, 2 years later, when we decided to move to South Carolina, naturally we again called on Julie to represent us in selling the home, which she did in very little time and with her same pleasant and professional demeanor, despite the fact that our neighbor was also a very competent realtor .Julie is a gem, and we still consider her a friend. We were looking to buy and resettle in the Wilmington area from New Hampshire and were connected with Julie by USAA Buyer's Advantage. After a couple of phone chats to give her some ideas on what we were looking for, my wife and adult daughters met up with Julie for the first time on the day after Thanksgiving. I was very impressed right from the beginning with her intuitiveness for what we were looking for and what our budget was. No attempts to sway us to buy higher and all of the homes she showed us that day (6 I think) were possibilities. We found a place and put an offer in that did not materialize. After advice from Julie we moved our search a bit and very slightly upped our budget to 'cast a wider net', but never felt like we were being pushed into anything we didn't want. Flew back down two weeks later for a Saturday afternoon house hunting trip and Julie put us on 3 great houses. We made an offer and have just closed on a beautiful home. Best of all, Julie was a very strong negotiator and provided my wife and I very good advice on the initial offer and negotiating through due diligence. We actually ended up buying more house that we thought we could get, in a great neighborhood with a big lot....for less than our ORIGINAL budget. We found Julie to be a very pleasant person with a lot of style and grace, but also very down to earth and extremely capable with a tough side when it came to our negotiations. We give Julie our highest recommendation. You cannot go wrong with Julie.
